A biodegradable alternative to sea sponges, cellulose sponges and artificial fibers, the loofah sponge is the seed pod of the gourd-like fruit of the loofah flowering vine. Loofah is an actually a vegetable from the cucumber family. It can be harvested before maturity and eaten or allowed to mature and harvested for use as a sponge. It is used throughout the world as a natural kitchen sponge and a natural exfoliating bath sponge.
Loofah sponges lather well with soap and are long lasting when properly cared for. The exfoliating action of a loofah leaves skin clean and soft. They are gentle enough when wet and lathered to use on the entire body.
